About

Two Days of Inspiration!

- May 2015, Austin

Association of India's Development (AID) - Austin invites you to attend the AID Annual Conference 2015 over the memorial day weekend (May 23 - 24) in the weird city of Austin! We look forward to the conference as an opportunity to learn from our partners and fellow volunteers all across US and India.

The conference is a great way to get to know AID at a broader level, meet volunteers from across the US, and outstanding activists working at the very grass roots in India. It also provides a platform for generating new ideas and initiatives to take AID forward as an organization. In addition to speaker events and workshops, this year's conference will have several parallel sessions that reflect the diversity and interests of our organization. We are excited to have the opportunity to host you all and hope to spread the vigor that every AID conference creates. See you all soon!

We would like to thank the South Asia Institute at UT Austin, a long time collaborator of our chapter, for sponsoring the venue for this year's AID Conference.

AID-Austin welcomes you to the University of Texas at Austin campus for this year’s AID Conference! Founded in 1883, the institution has the fifth-largest single-campus enrollment in the nation, with over 50,000 undergraduate and graduate students and over 24,000 faculty and staff. The energy of the campus is clear from a walk down the UT “drag”, a row of shops, restaurants, and coffee shops running along the western edge of campus. Marked by the famous UT Clock Tower, the campus will provide a picturesque and inspiring atmosphere perfect for exploring the issues of the deepest concern to the AID organization. Our chapter has been able to network and interact with other like-minded student organizations (such as Nazar, a South Asia-focused print journal) and faculty on campus to participate in campaigns, host film-screenings, and invite world-renowned speakers, activists, and artists to interact with students and community members. In addition, such an open and active campus community has allowed for many successful round-table discussions focusing on issues like gender violence, censorship, and caste reservation. We will see you soon to enjoy the warmth and sunshine of late May in Texas!
